From rgerhards at hq.adiscon.com Thu Mar 10 13:03:55 2005 From: rgerhards at hq.adiscon.com (Rainer Gerhards) Date: Thu, 10 Mar 2005 13:03:55 +0100 Subject: [rsyslog] rsyslog 0.8.1 released Message-ID: <577465F99B41C842AAFBE9ED71E70ABA061C10@grfint2.intern.adiscon.com> Dear all, I am glad to announce rsyslog version 0.8.1. As the version number implies, it is a bug-fixed version of the 0.8.0 build. Most importantly, a memory leak has been fixed that could cause some real headache. Also, a lot of packaging suggestions made by Bennett Todd were added. I would appreciate if you could have a look at the new version at http://www.monitorware.com/rsyslog/ The 0.8.1 release will be announced more widely. We hope to receive additional feedback and at least some installed base. Getting users involved is vital for the project, because only user comments allow us to drive development into the direction needed in reality. It provides documentation and a more standard installation. In 0.8.2, the man pages have finally been added. Also, rsyslogd now no longer replaces stock syslogd on install. Instead, it installs side-by-side with syslogd. This has the big advantage of removing uncertainty for the user - but it also means that the user needs to modify the system startup scripts.
