Yes, that was the cause of this problem. I have now fixed it in all affected
versions (inside the git branches, of course). The trivial patch is here:

One at a time ;) I'll try to find out more about this, but I fear here I
really need a debug log. I suspect this is something that is triggered by the
environment...
