I have begun to look into it. Debian has a slightly newer version of zlib
than Fedora (1.2.3.3 vs 1.2.3) and with that version's header the problem
occurs. I now need to look at the root cause, but it is well hidden ;)

That's a bug in omfile, it obviously does not yet properly reflect this
switch. Will fix that one, too.
