Hi all,

contrary to what I originally thought, I have worked "a bit" on the queue
engine again. I couldn't resist to unleash at least some of the potential
that the now gone-away restart-type HUP offered.

I am probably through with a round of changes, and it looks rather well. The
code has been greatly simplified, what I hope will also enhance its stability
and make finding threading bugs much easier. All in all, the new engine looks
much cleaner than the previous one. I also gained a bit more performance, but
that is not so much of a difference. At the high end, you may say an increase
in steady message rate by maybe one or two percent. The overhead of running
multiple action queues has been reduced.

The new code will probably be released tomorrow (will do some final checks),
but it is available in the git master branch right now.

I will now see if I begin to look into the set of performance monitoring
tools or postpone that after my vacation and look at threaded inputs (at
least for an initial pilot).

I just thought I let you know.
Rainer
