We just migrated some systems to RHEL 6, which comes with rsyslogd 5.8.10,
and I'm running into an issue with rate limiting. (I realize that it is an
older version, but we are unable to switch from the OS-supplied version at
the moment.)
There is one process on the machine that generates a ton of logs, which
immediately get shipped off to an external log host. This is a known an
expected behavior, and I've found that we're losing a lot of messages due
to the rate limiting.
Is it possible to configure rsyslogd to turn off rate limiting just for
that process, or is it only a global option? Alternately, if I could turn
it off for certain log facilities (we use one of the local ones for this
logging), that would work, too, although it seems like I can only select
certain severities.
