Hi...am building a centralized syslog server and am thinking of using
Adiscon loganalyzer as a front end to viewing the logs, generating reports
and statistics. Currently all my logs are written to disk but am a bit
concerned this may not be the best format to use for loganalyzer,
especially if the log files are likely to grow quite big. Presumably this
would slow down the viewing operations and report/chart generation quite
considerably? Bearing this in mind, I am considering writing the logs to a
MySQL database which am guessing would help matters? However, I also want
to take advantage of the digital signing functionality of rsyslog but am
not quite sure how this would work in a MySQL database context. Am assuming
I would still have to write the log messages to disk in order to use the
digital signing feature?
