2nd update:
I tried bringing up rsyslog with imrelp on a 2nd machine... exact same
problem as in my original post.
The machines are similar (both VM's, same OS, etc).
I'm stumped, and this is driving me nuts.

I used port 10666 in the spirit of the problem, but the same thing shows
for port 10514.  :-)
