the basic answer is to start rsyslogd with -dn and redirect the output to a
file
but if this is a busy server, the overhead of debug mode (not to mention
the huge amount of data written) is likly to seriously hurt things.
Normally I was ask you to go into more detail about what's not working, but
since you are using such an ancient version (3.22 when the current version
is 8.x), I need to first ask you to upgrade to a current version before we
(the rsyslog community) spend a lot of time troubleshooting this.
I know that that's the version that RHEL comes with, and if you want to
stick with it because it's what's "supported" then you need to direct your
questions to the people who are supporting that version (namely RedHat)
