I tried to set up an encrypted connection with a remote server via tcp and
encountered this problems.
I set rsyslog to log data to a remote machine via gnutls and also write it
locally in a log file. The problem is when rsyslog's connection with remote
server doesn't establish successfully for any reason (for example in my
case blocked by firewall) it stops writing logs, (not even in local files)
and buffers all the log messages into memory and eventually based on how
many logs that I have, sooner or later the whole system crashes and I have
to restart the machine. if the connection becomes alive before the system
crash, all of the logs which had been buffered are written in local log
file at once. Does anybody have any idea about this strange behavior?
I use rsyslog 5.8 on Centos 6
