ad 1: the journal by intent does not permit to change the source. I talked
about that long ago with Lennart and he strongly objected, saying that he
wants to be sure the source is what it claims. There is some point in that,
but it makes integration hard to impossible.

ad 2: given the low interest in this module (even the journal folks seem to
have none), I think we can add enhancement to the TODO list, but on a
veeeeery low spot. Contributions, of course, are appreciated.
