Not sure if I missed this in the documentation (I admit I did not read
everything in great detail). Just in case someone else has a similar issue.

First attempt at a custom template using new style, everytime I tried to
bind the template to an action I got the following error in the logs:

rsyslogd-3003: Could not find template 'FileFormat1' - action disabled [try
http://www.rsyslog.com/e/3003 ]
rsyslogd-3003: Could not find template 'FileFormat1' - action disabled
[v8.8.0.ad1 try http://www.rsyslog.com/e/3003

The template has the right syntax, and so does the action, I even updated
from v7 to v8 without luck.

It turns out the issue occurred because my template was declared in the
main config file /etc/rsyslog.conf, whereas the action to which I was
trying to bind it was in another file under /etc/rsyslog.d/blah.conf (using
$IncludeConfig /etc/rsyslog.d/*.conf)

As soon as I moved a copy of the template to the blah.conf file everything
started working correctly.

I didn't expect this, because all other "global" parameters in the main
config file are taken into account correctly.
