I wanted to follow up with my results.
* Note: I had been testing against a TCP receiver that was not listening
So david's fix [u:2yh5lwq3]did work[/u:2yh5lwq3], but only AFTER I FIRST
ESTABLISHED A TCP CONNECTION, THEN BROKE IT BY SHUTTING DOWN THE LISTENER.
Is that expected behavior? Likely this is a "duh!" datapoint for TCP
communications of which I was ignorant. I was trying to deploy a solution
that would allow add'l downstream syslog sinks to be brought up with out
restarting the rsyslog instance serving as the forwarder.
I have not had a chance for more testing, but I wanted to capture this data
point before I move on. I will try to get some system time to test out the
scenarios.
thx so much for your help david.
