Hi, All .We are currently running version 5.8.6 of Rsyslog in Ubuntu 12.04
LTS. Recently, we want to upgrade it to version 8 for some reasons. So I've
read the official documents for it. Here are some different points between
version 8 and the earlier I've summarized, please help add more and point
out which points should I concentrate more about, thanks in advance:

1. Configuration: After version 6, Rsyslog has  put forward a new statement
type named RainerScript for the config file. It’s a more precise way for
complex cases. Although the legacy formats can be mix-used with the new
one, official strongly recommended to use the RainerScript way, not only
because it’s more precise, but also because the legacy format may be phased
out in the future. 
2. JSON support: Available since rsyslog 8.3.0. It’s used as a message
property and primarily meant as an interface to other systems and tools
that want access to the full property set.	3. Regex support: With new
version , Rsyslog can support both POSIX BRE and ERE while the earlier
versions didn’t support ERE
