Are the only logs that are getting repeated the logs from imfile?

It sounds as if rsyslog is getting confused and thinks the file has been
recreated and starts reading it from the beginning

what version of rsyslog are you running on the sending system? if it's the
stock version from RHEL 5.8, can you upgrade to something closer to
current?
