Of course that is not true. And of course the behavior after the file is
deleted cannot be defined 'normal'.

if the module is using inotify (like specified in the docs) it does receive
notification of rename/unlink.
The proof being that it continue reading log entries after the rotation
(which is a new file with the old name)

The HUP signal doesn't do anything, the normal Centos system log rotation
happens on Sundays at midnight, but the freed space remained busy until a
full restart. And I'm using 8.12

OK, I'm gonna dig the code and try and find the culprit
