If I remove the pound signs from the two lines on the sending system

[code:2x1kj7qi]*.info;*.!warn;\
      authpriv.none;cron.none;mail.none;news.none 
/var/log/messages
[/code:2x1kj7qi]

and restart rsyslog on sending system, I see a 'messages' file in /var/log
and it has events.

But I don't see the messages file on the centralized rsyslog server no
matter if the lines on the sending system where commented out or not.
