Specifically set nocopytruncate, still have the same issue.  I'm setting up
a test now to send directly to a remote host to see what happens there
after rotate runs.  In other words, instead of using imfile and omkafka to
read and send the data, just send local5.* for example to @@1.2.3.4:1234 as
well as /var/log/app.log.  I assume that this would rule out imfile being
the source of the issue...

Actually, now that I think about it, does it matter if the log that is
being written to (and read from) has a dash?  Will set up another host
without the dash to see if that has any effect.
