Hello.
Just installed rsyslog-8.15.0-1.el7.x86_64.rpm from <!-- m --><a
class="postlink"
href="http://rpms.adiscon.com/v8-stable/epel-$releasever/$basearch">http://rpms.adiscon.com/v8-stable/epel-
... /$basearch</a><!-- m --> on up-to-date CentOS7 and "service rsyslog
start" starts rsyslog, but produces error messages about failed dependency:
[root at czlab-kat-server yum.repos.d]# service rsyslog start
Starting rsyslog (via systemctl): A dependency job for rsyslog.service
failed. See 'journalctl -xe' for details.
[FAILED]
[root at czlab-kat-server yum.repos.d]#
Examination of rsyslog.service file as it ships with RHEL7 and Fedora23
reveals that the following two lined need to be commented out in (or
dropped from) rsyslog.service file:
;Requires=syslog.socket
;Alias=syslog.service
With this modification, there are no error messages during rsyslog
startup/shutdown.
Please is there any chance to have this small modification included in
future versions of rsyslog8 for RHEL/CentOS?
Thanks,
Ed
