this is probably a stupid question, but is there any chance that your
greylog connection has a disk queue and that what is being sent is older
messages that were queued?

Other than that, my next step would be to enable debug logging for a few
mintues and look for the greylog action in the resulting output (it helps
to have a name='something' in the action when trying to track issues down,
either in debug or in pstats output.
