IBM spent some time porting rsyslog 5 to AIX, unfortunantly they are only
willing to contribute the code under GPL while the project is trying to
move to the ASL, so the changes did not get upstreamed. Rsyslog 5 is quite
old at this point. I don't know if IBM has rolled their changes forward to
current versions or not (current version is 8.7)

So while Rsyslog v5 is far better than the stock AIX syslog, it's probably
far behind the mainline rsyslog. Just a heads up.
