Wrt harping on the receiver, no problem, I can totally see where you're
coming from.  Every stat I've posted here I also collect on the receiver
side.  In fact, I usually look at them side-by-side because it's really
easy to see when processing slows down in the aggregator.  I totally agree
that this this is pointing at an external influence and I'm going to dig
into my other logs to see what else is going on at that time on the
network.

Btw, log-agg1 is an AWS EC2 m3.xlarge instance, and I know AWS performance
is atrocious, but for $200/mo, I would hope it could handle some log store
and forwarding :P.
