permission denied usually indicates that the OS isn't letting you do that,
you may be trying to do it as a non-root user, or something like SELinux
could be blocking you.

Please upgrade to something close to current (v8.16 is the current release)
so that you can use the new syntax. For what you are doing, you really are
much better off with the new capabilities. 5.8 is very old.
