I may be facing a similar issue so I'd like to chime in... I have several
servers using imfile and shipping off with omkafka, and they all stop
sending after logrotate runs and will not start sending again until a
restart is done (HUP doesn't do it).  Logs continue to populate as
expected.  Here's the kicker, one app we have writes and rotates it's own
log file instead of using a syslog level and logrotate, and those appear to
continue to ship to kafka correctly.  It [i:2mppdh0o]seems[/i:2mppdh0o]
like it's only the logs that are written by syslog that are having this
issue (race condition?).

I can give more details if it seems like we're chasing the same issue, I
just don't want to hijack the thread.
